TERRANCE LEIGH SALLOWS 1948 2007 Terry passed away peacefully on November 10, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 59. Terry was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Thora Sallows, infant son Darcy and father-in-law Stan Stans. He leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife of 38 years Val, his daughter Tara (Thom) Dick and grandsons Malachi and Seth (the lights of his life) of Steinbach, MB, his daughter Joanna of Niverville, MB, his sister Molly (Bob) McKay of Flin Flon, MB, his brother Bill (Marg) Sallows of Winnipeg MB, his sister Nola (Don) Hartgerink of Hixon, BC, his sister Chloe (Bruce) Jorgenson of Gilbert Plains, MB, his sister Wanda (Stan) Herman of Kamloops, BC, his mother-in-law Vera Stans of Milton, ON, his sister-in-law Vivian (Howard) Pearce of Milton, ON, his brother-in-law Don Stans of Milton, ON, his sister-in-law Jay (Daryll) Vallequette of Belleville, ON, and his sister-in-law Joann Stans and Glen of Bellville, ON. He also leaves to mourn his many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Terry was born Terrance Leigh Sallows at Cranberry Portage, Manitoba on March 29, 1948, the fifth child of Ralph and Thora. He was delivered at home with the help of his Granny and a nurse. Terry spent his childhood playing hockey, baseball, curling and generally doing what young boys do in a small town. He excelled at school work and after graduation he briefly went to work for Northern Electric before settling into his 34 years career with Manitoba Hydro working in the capacity as an Engineering Technician in Fibre Optic Communication Design. Terry was very involved in his community coaching sports and serving on the board of the Niverville United Church. Terry's compassion and kind heart was known to all, most notably to all his family and friends. He and Val enjoyed dancing and spent a number of years taking pattern and ballroom dance lessons. The family wishes to thank the community of Niverville for the great love and support that they gave to Terry during his illness and to Dr. Johnston, Erin, the nursing staff on GD6, the staff at the CancerCare Treatment Centre in the Health Sciences Centre, and the staff at the Bethesda Hospital at Steinbach, MB. A celebration of Terry's life will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the Niverville United Church. Interment will follow at Hespler Cemetery at Niverville.
